At Downtown TSO, our optometrist will take the time to explain the results of your eye exam, describe your options and listen to your eye care needs. Because maintaining good eye health is an ongoing partnership, our eye doctors encourage you to ask questions and share your health information, which could be vital to monitoring, diagnosing and treating potential vision problems.
A native Houstonian, Dr. Van Nguyen graduated from the University Of Houston College Of Optometry. Dr. Nguyen joined the Texas State Optical family in 2014 and is very excited to be working at the Downtown office. She has been in the Optometry Field for 10 plus years. Dr. Nguyen is a Therapeutic Optometrist and Glaucoma Specialist with special interests in Dry Eye and Ocular Surface Diseases. She enjoys educating her patients about their eyes. “Eyes are very interesting”, Dr. Nguyen states, which is why she made Optometry her field of choice! She is fluent in Vietnamese and able to perform eye examinations in Spanish.
Outside of work, Dr. Nguyen thoroughly enjoys doing volunteer work, arts and crafts, baking and reading. She is also very talented at making paper flowers and crocheting. She is the youngest with two older brothers and is very family oriented. When Dr. Nguyen has free time, she loves to spend it with her niece and family.
A native Texan, Linda Matocha grew up just south of Houston in Freeport, TX. She did her undergraduate work at University of Houston and graduated from the University Of Houston College Of Optometry in 1985. After working for an HMO in Houston for 4 years, Dr. Matocha joined the TSO family in November 1989 at the Memorial City location. She joined the Museum District TSO team in the fall of 2013 and Downtown TSO in 2017. Dr. Matocha now splits her time between Memorial City TSO, Museum District TSO and Downtown TSO.
Dr. Matocha is a therapeutic optometrist who practices full-scope optometry, including comprehensive eye examinations, all types of contact lens fittings, dry eye treatment and co-management of LASIK and cataracts. Memorial City TSO, Museum District TSO and Downtown TSO carry over 750 frames and sunglasses in the latest styles to meet all patient’s needs.
She and her husband Hal, a native Houstonian and petroleum Landman, moved from the suburbs to the Museum District area in 2006. Avid sports fans, they support the Houston home teams in baseball, football, basketball and soccer. They combined their love of travel and sports by visiting every major league baseball team’s stadium. In 2005, they finished this quest. They then worked on seeing the Astros in every team's stadium, finishing that quest in Oakland in 2015. Together, Dr. Matocha and Hal have also been to all 50 states in the U.S. To keep balanced, they also enjoy the musicals at the Hobby Center and spending time with their very large extended family.
Dr. Sabah Hasan is a true Houstonian, born and raised! She completed her training at the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2019 with the highest honors. She is a licensed therapeutic optometrist and glaucoma specialist.
Dr. Hasan has been passionate about the field of optometry since childhood, and she is committed to giving each of her patients an excellent eye care experience. She practices full-scope optometry, providing comprehensive eye examinations for both glasses and soft contact lenses. Some of her specialties include the treatment of red eyes, dry eye, and the co-management of cataract and LASIK refractive procedures. Like her fellow colleague, Dr. Hasan has a passion for fashion, and its her mission to help her clients find the perfect eye-wear to fit their individual lifestyle and needs.
When she's not working, Dr. Hasan enjoys spending time with family and friends, eating great food, and traveling the world! She is fluent in English and Urdu and looks forward to serving you at your next eye examination.

A favorite childhood memory of Nyomi’s is visiting New York three years in a row during Christmas. Nyomi says she would love to live there! Although Nyomi is not fluent in Spanish, she can understand the basics. Her favorite quote by Mahatma Gandhi is written below:

Daniel's passion is in the medical field. He has pursued his dreams by working with his team here at Downtown TSO and has taken some college courses as well. "I enjoy the Optical field and want to succeed in it." says Daniel. Daniel thoroughly enjoys the patient interactions and working alongside his fellow colleagues. Always trying to ensure the day goes by smoothly, Daniel helps maintain Texas State Optical's work environment very well. He is also fluent in both English and Spanish. His proudest accomplishment is following his dreams and pursuing his degree. Outside of the office, Daniel likes to paint, play video games and watch documentaries. What Daniel favors most about his childhood is the simplicity and innocence in that period of life! Maya Angelou, an American poet, singer, memoirist, who published seven autobiographies and three books wrote Daniel's favorite quote below:

Jeanice's career goal is to grow and understand different positions in the Optical field. Her major is Business in college, therefore she hopes to have a better understanding of "behind the scenes" in the optical industry. Although Jeanice has big interests in the Business aspect, she thoroughly enjoys the patient interaction. "I enjoy assisting our patients or people in general!" says Jeanice, "I want to help them with what they need that contributes to their daily lives." Jeanice is not only extremely helpful to Downtown TSO's patients, she is a great team member, always happily willing to assist her co-workers when in need. Outside of work, Jeanice loves eating out at new restaurants that have different cultural foods as well as trying new delicious pastries. "It's very enjoyable to take friends and family along on my food journeys." Jeanice is both fluent in English and Spanish. Jungkook from seven-member South Korean boy band BTS, also known as Bangtan Boys, speaks Jeanice's favorite quote below:

Lexii loves the everyday interactions she gets to experience with all of the patients and her coworkers. She is great at listening to all patients’ need and to quote Lexii, “I genuinely care about them leaving happier than they came in.” Lexii enjoys creating different types of jewelry in her spare time. One of her favorite childhood memories is picking walnuts from her grandparents’ walnut tree alongside her sister and grandma, who she misses dearly. Lexii’s favorite quote is one of her own:
“I am an open door, I can lead you but I cannot change you. That is your journey that I can only be a part of”
Michael has gone to school to study as a Lab Technician and Optician and hopes to become an Optometrist one day. "Working at Greenspoint Texas State Optical is great, I really enjoy the environment and my co-workers." says Michael. Michael contributes knowledge and is very helpful, fun and upbeat. His proudest accomplishment is joining a school program called "See to Succeed" where he made glasses for school students. Outside of the office, Michael likes to play video games or to swim! A memory Michael holds dear and will never forget is leaving the hospital after he was told he had beaten the cancer he was earlier diagnosed with. Michael is always super helpful, lending a hand where in need, loves interacting with the patients and putting a smile on their faces.
